Hi Sharon
Thank you!
I received new ski at yesterday.
Today, immediately I rided on new ski.
It is evolving!
I can not ride on the old ski any more.
I enjoy new waveski life.

Lee Hutchings

Hi Col,

As requested, my surf ski is better than expected.

Paul

Hi Col and Dean,

Just back from the 5th session.
The jury has returned!
The verdict is “Excellent!!”
So, thanks very much to you guys for the thought, skill and effort in carving me a Ski that will allow me to move to the next level!

Some more detailed feedback:

Paddling:
There is quite sufficient buoyancy but the trim is slightly stern down and nose up so, not as easy to paddle as my previous skis.
However, that said it is quite manageable and will improve as my weight drops to the target of 110kg.
Where it does make a big difference is catching waves... hence... I am really, really late on.

The Drop
I am absolutely astounded on how I can be so late, but still drive hard and fast down the face without fear of pearl-diving!
At the bottom she goes easily up on the rail and into the bottom turn without me having to ‘oar’ it around!
Or if I am really, really late, can float it down on the tail!
Or if I am really, really, really late, and get swamped, I can burst out of the close-out! (shaken but not stirred!)

Turns
Reach and lean, rather than dig and oar, is now the name of the game.
Can keep a much higher speed through the turns.

Speed
As yet not sure I can match Andrews speed! That board of his is blindly fast!
With better balance/lighter weight I should get faster (earlier) take-offs so might pick up the difference?

White Water
On a wave, inside the mush, especially in close-outs, she still wants to keep on working and is controllable (i.e. to the limits of my physical ability)
Paddling out through the whitewater is much, much easier as the pin nose doesn’t ‘sky’ and then the shoulders climb the board on top.

I am a bit shaky on the other side in the swirling white as the tail loses buoyancy/stability in the aeration.
I am confident a combination of confidence, aggression, balance and weight drop will allow me to paddle out through reasonable size white-water.

Wipeouts!
Don’t know, as NOT wiping out any more! (only 2 after some 15 hours on the water!!!)

Barrel rolls are a thing of the past as I have stopped tripping over the downhill rail!

Paint Job
Very, very happy!
Looks really good.
Like the white rails and black pin-stripes. They really lift the appearance.
As it is enviable I get some dings and chips on the rails, what product do you suggest I touch them up with?

As you can see from the above, she is really a joy to ride, has given me the tool to get to the next level and set new personal physical goals.
Hopefully one of our friends will do a ‘Photo session’ so we can have a good look at the difference between what we think we are doing and what we are actually doing. If it comes off, will send some pics.

Col,

Used the ski on the weekend. Really enjoyed the experience. Have included a photo of the set up.

Alan Chaloner Hi Col

Just wanted to thank you for my amazing custom wave ski. Took it out first time today and it blew my mind how it handled. So stable & ultra light and feels glued to the water but then turns instantly. The finish on the paint & shape is outstanding, you really have mastered these things!!

Well done, thanks heaps!
DANIEL ROBINSON

Hi Col

just saying thanks for my great custom. Best thing ever had. thanks again mate

Daniel

Ashley Mason Col,

Got my custom through WaveMaster USA and loving it. I see you even have it on your custom galleries. Looks fantastic and surfs as well as it looks. Love the new swallow tail, it carves the wave so nicely and releases on demand. <img src=images/smilies/cheers.gif>
ray Col, The new evolution I picked up today got it's first ride in the water this evening. Excellent ride, the shorter paddle I got is great too. This is my third Wavemaster and I think the best so far. Thank you for the great price and service. My goaty mates love the colour!
John Butel Col,Tried out the new ski first thing Saturday morning. Haven't caught this many waves in two hours for years. Was buggered!
Got plenty of mouth opening stares! Please pass on thanks to your "deck designer". What a great job. I know how much work went into this "tiger skin" creation!

Ski went really well in pretty ordinary surf. Obviously need to change my (Christo) based techniques, but was more than excited with results. Very stable, responsive, with lots of effortless drive off the wave.

Felt like phoning you after I got out of the water, but figured you might want to sleep in rather than listen to an excited wave skier ramble on about his latest feats.

Don't be surprised if you get the odd phone call asking "are you the guys that make wildlife Wave skis?"

Thanks for my new surfing inspiration!
Steven Col great site, do you run school's on Eskimo roll's.
MICHAEL HILL Morning col and staff, picked up my ski today thanks for the new colour I took it out today and it goes great. Thanks again. Looks great.

alison brundage Aloha, I've been skiing here on No Shore Oahu for 13 yr. in up to 10ft surf. ( Gave up stand upsurfing as a result of a benign brain tumor that'scaused a mild balance disorder.) No problem in the seated position! Got a used Shane Thermo turbo 7'6". Will be in Sydney Australia 8/13/03 and will head up the East coast in a camper...got 3 wks. I need some new equipment. Could use some help on a hook up with shops a/o outlets there.
Thanks,alison

alison Brundage Hey snow skier!
I've been pouring over your web site again. trying to digest what I'm going to order this time. Somehow I seem to lean to the 2.3 Strata (that is 7 ft 6 in if my conversion is right). What type asnd size boards are being riden on your home page...ie what are you on riding that wave at Ulu ? ( I still have memory of my "ride" face down from Ulus to Bingans doing a full reef exploration en-route! Lost lots of skin that day! Thanks Col! alison

John Cormack Col
Thanks for your help getting me started on your racing ski. Been at it for four weeks and staying upright in all conditions. At 61 I am really enjoying the stability and glide the ski gives. Everyone should try a Wavemaster racing ski before buying one. Very strong constuction, light and heaps of fun. Thanks Col for your unbiased guidance.

Mark Dennis Just found the site. Been out of touch for many years. Looking to get back in the water soon. Good to see Kev Marshall still going strong. Any old ACT waveski club riders out there?
TAIKI FUKUNAGA Long time no hear, Mr. Samways.
I used be riding your racing ski and mal and surfboard, and my local SLSC use your rescue boards. Thanks to your high performance product, I won the national title in '96.

So, I am quite excited to find your new website. Is it possible to order a surfboard from you? I would go for the kneeboard this time.

tyler lausten hey there w/m guys, i rode a w/m for a while and had it at the 2004 worlds in brasil. when there and the surf was junk, i decided to take it down a 200' snad dune. stuck the nose in the sand with me suspended and hardly any damage, just two cracks near the seat. strong stuff.

Lynn This is the first time I found this site. I have to laugh. I never knew that the waveski I purchased second hand at a boating store and used to paddle around in a medium sized lake was supposed to be used on waves!!!! I did however greatly enjoy it. I am over 50 and not agile enough for a kayak. The model I had must be older as I did not see a picture of it. I do remember that had printed on the bottom...."Up on top down under"
bruce Hi Col

I collected my new Strata ski from 4 Winds (Roger was fantastic) on Saturday and I "love it". It looks superb and I can't wait to try it out. It will be next weekend before I get an opportunity to do so thus I am hoping for a reasonable swell to come through.

I wish to thank you for the advice which you freely gave and for the great looking ski - my third Wavemaster. I now just have to remember how to set it up again ie foot stirrups adjustment and fin placement. This will be a minor challenge in itself.

Roll on the weekend.

Regards

Bruce

PAUL Hi Col,
The Ski arrived safely on Friday and picked up Saturday.....It's a 'work of art'.
I finally got a chance to ride it late yesterday and as expected, really impressed.
In the short time I was out there the initial comments from other surfers were mainly "Goat Boat" until they got a closer look. It was the same with the pedestrians in the street during my walk home, comments all changed to "Nice Ski" and never-ending questions.
Definitely an attention grabber here as it is the 'first one' of its class....but I reckon you will be receiving a number of calls in the near future, especially when I get out next weekend with the locals on their 'mass produced' models.
Just one question for you though, was there supposed to be a 'Power Pad' with the kit?...as I did request one, and pretty sure it was noted on the Custom Order form you sent me.
Kenn BROWN I have recently bought one of your Roto skis and I love it. Rreally stable and handles well in the surf. Looking at your website I was hoping to find a price list to buy some accessories like rubberseat to keep me on and some better foot straps. Is it me or don't you have a price list on the web site.

cheers
larry
Dale Reece I bought a stablizer comp wave ski. I paddle it like a sea-kayak. It's excellent. I paddle miles every-day.
DENNETT WHITEMAN Col,

I'd like to thank you and your team on my new ski.
After a bit of adjustment to fin and belt positioning it now performs as well as the old one and is as stable as a ten foot roto (well not quite).

I am enjoying my surfing again like the old days.
Well done guys ------Thanks again.

Best wishes to all,
